BMX lifestyle: black, yellow, freedom

A personal look at BMX culture, my Tallorder bike, and what two wheels mean to me

BMX lifestyle: black, yellow, freedom

Some people say a BMX is just a bike. On paper that is true. If you have ridden an empty city at night, you know it is not the full story.

BMX lifestyle

My Tallorder is black and yellow. Not random. Black for night rides when the city is quiet. Yellow for the moment when everything lines up.

The bike

Every part is where it should be. Balance is right. The bike responds to tricks without lag or surprise. If you have not felt that, you will not understand why someone spends serious money on a BMX.

BMX action

A trick works or it does not. No excuse changes that. You set a goal, fail, and eventually it clicks.

The park

After a few visits you know faces. Tricks get shared, advice when you ask, otherwise people leave you alone. Not always quiet, not always ego-free. Mostly.

BMX tricks

Berlin or home town, the baseline is similar. You recognize each other fast.

Park, street, dirt

I learn in the park. On the street I look for spots others skip. Dirt gets me out of the city onto trails that are not asphalt.

BMX urban

Each style has its own rhythm. Which is better depends on the day, not on a slogan.

Freedom on the bike means nobody tells you where to go. That is enough.
